Royals closer Wade Davis returns to Kansas City for MRI
Passan and Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal later confirmed Davis was headed back for an MRI. Casey Jones first tweeted that Davis was flying back to K.C. for an examination.

The Royals closer’s new injury may prevent him from being traded at the deadline.
Heyman adds Davis enjoys playing in Kansas City, and a trade is far from a slam dunk.
Davis had been on the trade block, attracting attention from both the Nationals and the Dodgers. That would indicate a daunting asking price even if Davis were healthy and in top form on the mound, but now it looks that neither of those is the case.
Davis has a 1.60 ERA with 21 saves in 23 chances in 35 appearances this season. His velocity, while still a strong 94.9 mph, is down a full mile per hour from last season as well.
But on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, Davis allowed two runs on two hits and three walks, though he closed out a 7-5 win.

The impact here goes beyond the Royals, who are on the verge of being a non-contender.
