Royals lead AL to all-star game victory

The decision was made because four consecutive All-Star Games are scheduled to be played in NL parks – Cincinnati last year, Miami next year and Washington in 2018. At a time when World Series viewership trends downward, this suggests that baseball is increasingly thought of as a sport of history, with the dominant National Football League and the charging, star-laden NBA replacing it as today’s entertainments of choice.

The NL stranded 10 runners and left the bases loaded in the eighth when Houston right-hander Will Harris threw a called third strike pitch past pinch-hitter Aldemys Diaz.

Then, finally, it was time to play ball.

In the top of the ninth, Orioles pitcher Zach Britton recorded the final three outs to give the AL a 4-2 victory.

“It’s the All-Star Game”, said Cubs third baseman and Bonanza High alumnus Kris Bryant. Perez is batting. 283 with a. 818 OPS, getting 14 home runs and 41 RBIs. He hadn’t given up two home runs in the same inning of a regular-season game since July 8, 2014. In the past two seasons, they are 4-2 at Kauffman Stadium in the Fall Classic. We knew what was going on.

“I told them that it takes a lot of work to get to the All-Star Game”. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been that proud of two players in a moment like that”. “That is not an excuse”, Cueto said. Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer tied the game with a solo shot off his former teammate Johnny Cueto now with the San Francisco Giants. And while it’s certainly silly in concept to allow the All-Star Game to decide home-field advantage, it doesn’t really matter enough to merit all the vitriol.

“Couldn’t have worked out any better”, said Hosmer.

“But what he didn’t know is I wanted the team to go out and meet him”. The AL turned to its bullpen during the second half of the game. Every fan base wants to see at least one of its own, and this is still a game for the fans, right? “We don’t know who is going to be representing the American League”, Hosmer said.

“It was really, really hard not to put him in that final vote”, said Yost.

“I’m not trying to make excuses but sometimes you get up and you don’t feel well”, he said. That kind of left “Hos” out in the cold.

Even the three NL players who became All-Star MVPs in the last 13 years now play for the AL Prince Fielder, Brian McCann and Melky Cabrera.

In the third inning, Hosmer hit a RBI single. The American League’s starting infield featured not a single player older than 26; the National League’s outfield had a 23- and 25-year-old.

Kansas City manager Ned Yost and New York Mets manager Terry Collins shuffled in new players and pitchers, like this was an exhibition game or something. The Royals are only 45-43, third in the AL Central, struggling to keep up with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians.

Look, I may be splitting hairs and you may be telling me to chill and enjoy the Royals success and I am.
