Royals place Moustakas on DL with torn ACL

This has been a rough season for Moustakas who was activated from the disabled list last weekend after fracturing his thumb in a collision with outfielder Alex Gordon.

The Kansas City Royals placed third baseman Mike Moustakas on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Outfielder Brett Eibner, a 2010 second-round pick out of Arkansas, was called up from Triple-A Omaha to take Moustakas’ roster spot.

The Royals-Chicago White Sox game was rained out Thursday night with no makeup date announced. While his career MiLB average is.245, he hit. That’s just bad luck. While he certainly looks like he belongs in the big leagues, he returned to the KC Royals to play third base. Utility man Whit Merrifield has an even smaller sample size. However, that’s spread out over 23 at bats. He also had 36 runs scored and 27 walks. However, I don’t think that will continue, but, if it does they will be well set.

Snider signed a minor-league deal with the KC Royals this winter after a brief stop with the Pirates last season. It depends the contexts of which you ask. Given that contingency of internal replacement candidates, it seems likely that the reigning World Series Champions will at least take some time to evaluate existing alternatives before looking outside the organization to acquire some help at the hot corner. “That’s where I’m at right now”. There is a good chance of that.

For those Cheslor Cuthbert fans, you will get to see plenty of him, but maybe not in the way you had hoped.
