Abreu and Cabrera singled with one out in the eighth, and Avisail Garcia drove in a run against reliever Joakim Soria when his double took a odd bounce off third base.

The game had been locked in a 1-1 tie for three-and-a-half innings before another potential piece of the Royals’ future stepped up. “I knew if everything went as it should, there would be the possibility I would have the opportunity to pitch this year”. It’s your team fighting back against one of the best (Herrera). “So, to be able to put up a four spot in that inning was huge”. He’s got enough pop. When he’s hitting it well, it’ll carry. “I just wanted to come in and hold it there”. “This is, I hope, the start of that for him in his career”. He handled the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings easily.

“You got to give credit to my team, my catchers and not only that, but to Robin”, Sale said.

Chris Sale didn’t need another complete game to make his case for the American League Cy Young Award, but it certainly didn’t hurt. We’re down two, we scored one and hit a three-run homer. “I just have to go out and not mess up too badly”.

Herrera (2-5) blew his third save in 14 chances.

“I’m glad it’s over now”, Yost said. “It was a little off”. I felt a little off with my command for some reason. “This is a tough league”. The White Sox have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 10 games. After that, he retired eight of the final nine hitters he faced. “It was a grind”.

Vargas started off shaky, allowing a hit to the second batter he faced, and the second hit a couple of batters later. Scott Podsednik, another former Royal, drove in two Milwaukee runs. Cheslor Cuthbert’s double moved Perez to third. “This time it was a for sure thing so it was a nice, easy jog to first”. Kendrys Morales singled home Merrifield. Anderson was initially called out on a head-first slide into second base on Jose Abreu’s fielder’s choice grounder to shortstop Alcides Escobar.

Melky Cabrera homered in the ninth off Peter Moylan, while Saladino had three of the White Sox 11 hits. Chicago DH Justin Morneau did not start for the fifth straight game because of neck discomfort.

To make room on the roster, the club has reinstated right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment. He was scheduled to throw batting practice Friday, but a pregame rain canceled that.

White Sox: RHP Miguel Gonzalez, who is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in two September starts, will start Saturday.
