The Kansas City Royals and New York Mets face off for Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday night.

After the game, Royals manager Ned Yost confirmed that Volquez did not know about his father during the game, as his family did not want him to be told until after he was finished pitching.
Volquez, who left the ballpark early after meeting with his family after the game, e-mailed teammate Alcides Escobar to say, “Thank you guys for winning the game for me”.
Media reports surfaced just before game time that Daniel Volquez, 63, had died of heart complications back home in the Dominican Republic.
At one point on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that Volquez had been told of Daniel Volquez’s death on the way to the stadium Tuesday afternoon.
There are conflicting reports about when the pitcher learned of his father’s death, and whether he knew before the game.
The Royals are very optimistic about taking game two as well as they will place their ace pitcher Jacob deGrom on the mound against Johnny Cueto this Wednesday night, before the series moves to New York. The Kansas City Royals came out on top in Game 1, but the New York Mets are still in it to win it. In Game 2, will the Mets prove why they’re Amazin’, or will the Royals show why they rule? It was shades of 2000, the last time the Mets were in the World Series, when they blew Game 1 in the ninth only to lose in the 12.
But after he retired catcher Salvador Perez on a ground out, Royals left fielder Alex Gordon hit a towering fly ball well over the wall in deep center field to knot the score at sold-out Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
“I don’t feel bad”, Yost said. “I can not wait to see Claire’s house decked out in orange and blue”.
“I’m confident that Senator Schumer will be wearing Royal blue in the Big Apple soon”, she said. Very few assigned any chances to either team at the beginning of the season, but the Royals and the Mets gave fans a thrilling performance worth every penny.

And let’s not forget Mike Moustakas’ run-saving, diving snag in the top of the sixth. “I remember Chris just went through it, Mous went through it with his mom. I think Eddie (also felt that way) tonight”. After all, since division play began 46 years ago, ushering in the modern postseason, these two teams have appeared in seven World Series before this year. “But we’re a family, and we rallied around him and picked him up and hopefully everything is OK”. It was a completely different result than his Game 5 effort against the Houston Astros in the AL Division Series, when he allowed just two runs off two hits in eight innings.
