Sujith, is the former Pappinesseri karyavahak of the BJP. Meanwhile, the house of two CPM leaders were attacked. According to one version, the attack on Sujith was a sequel to the recent incident of the manhandling of a CPI(M) activist, Fayaz.
Manoj was killed on a day BJP president Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat were in the state on separate visits.
“It is a CPI(M) act”.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district leadership alleged that the CPM was behind the murder.
The BJP is observing a hartal in Kannur, Papinesseri and Azhikode areas to protest against the killing.
The move has led to implication of several senior CPM leaders in some sensational cases.
Police have intensified law and order measures in the area in view of the tension following the murder.
Mr. Rajasekharan said in a statement here on Tuesday that the murder of RSS activist Sujith in Kannur was proof that the CPI(M) has not relinquished violence.
“This was not an incident of political violence”.
CPI-M State Secretary Kodieryi Balakrishnan said the attack was not political and was a purely local issue and had nothing to do with the CPI-M. “This is not an isolated incident”, he added.

What is surprising here is that the murder has happened on the eve of elections to the state Assembly with no political party really seeing a wave of support among the electorate.
