Rubio accuses Cruz of lying; Cruz turns on Trump

Rubio aides said the moves were aimed at bringing the campaign’s ad spending down to the level of its competitors in SC, not a sign of financial troubles or an indication that the Florida senator was lowering expectations in the state.

Ted Cruz is daring Donald Trump to sue him over an ad running in SC that questions his record on abortion, rejecting the billionaire businessman’s complaints and vowing instead to run the ad “more frequently” because voters “deserve to know the truth”. “Even in the annals of frivolous lawsuits, this takes the cake”.

This is not the first time Haley has taken a swipe at Trump.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina), a Rubio-backer, slammed the Cruz campaign on Tuesday for allegedly creating a fake Facebook page reporting Gowdy was no longer supporting Rubio. He also addressed the Supreme Court vacancy following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, saying that he would choose someone who, like Scalia, was a “lover of liberty”.

“You have been threatening frivolous lawsuits for your entire adult life”, Cruz said, speaking directly to Trump.

The two GOP front-runners have deepened their feud over the past few months as they continue to spar in the polls. “His statements are totally untrue and completely outrageous”, Trump said, days ahead of South Carolina’s pivotal Republican primary.

South Carolina, the next state for Republicans, is seen as crucial for Bush’s chances following a disappointing fourth-place finish in New Hampshire.

Trump quote-tweeted Scavino’s tweet which claimed Coburn had called Cruz “one of the most dishonest people in D.C”. “And of all the people left in this race, I am the one who can most quickly unify this party so we can take on the challenge of unifying it”, Rubio said.

Meanwhile, there was some speculation that Trump’s debate performance, during which he said then-President George W. Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, might hurt him.

In a statement issued by his campaign minutes after Cruz’s comments Wednesday, Trump pointed to the Cruz campaign’s tactics in Iowa, where staffers inaccurately portrayed Ben Carson as dropping out of the race while caucus-goers were still voting. “If you want to file a lawsuit… file the lawsuit”.

“His own words said on national television are a matter of public record, and by definition repeating someone’s own words cannot be defamation”, Cruz said. Nine per cent are undecided, the university said releasing the details of the poll.

The South Carolina primary has been a family affair for the Bush family, as they try to give the former Florida governor a needed boost in a high-stakes primary. Cruz said the president’s opening to Cuba is indicative of a failed foreign policy. They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction, there were none.
