Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio need a last-minute charge to compete in Monday’s Iowa Republican Caucus.

“We don’t view any state as a ‘must-win, ‘ ” the Texas senator told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on “State of the Union”.

“It’s very overwhelming”, a local resident said. “He has a lot of off-the-wall ideas that other haven’t thought of and might be good for us”.

But now, when you’re watching a caucus in February, you’ll know what the media means when it reports that a candidate has won. “We are exhausted of being burned”. It’s worth noting that Cruz trails Trump by that exact margin in the famous Des-Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll, which is the final survey prior to caucus day.

“If we can come out of Iowa, with a nice victory, it’s so important”, Donald Trump said. It’s the same reason actually that Donald engages in insults. Only about half had a positive impression of field-leader Trump, 65% had a positive take on Cruz, and less than half said they would enthusiastically back Trump should he become the party’s nominee.

“Our Democratic candidates have agreed in principle to having the DNC sanction and manage additional debates in our primary schedule, inclusive of New Hampshire this week”, said Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Just over half of New Hampshire GOP primary voters in 2012 and 2008 said they considered themselves conservative according to exit polls, well below the more than 8-in-10 who said so in Iowa and roughly 7-in-10 in SC.

If Rubio manages to surge past Cruz and place second in Iowa, he’ll be set up to place second to Trump in New Hampshire and become the clear establishment alternative.

“The Cruz campaign issued a dishonest and deceptive get out the vote ad calling voters ‘in violation.’ They are now under investigation”.

“She put American intelligence officers at risk for her convenience”, Gov. Chris Christie said.

Rubio, however, disputed the accusation in an interview with Tapper that also aired Sunday.

He charged the Texan with regularly misrepresenting his immigration positions, particularly on the subject of whether he supports “amnesty”, or allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the U.S. “There’s going to be real consequences for violating our law”, the Florida senator said.

Rubio also is poised to gain.
