Rubio campaign urges for Kasich vote in Ohio

Soon thereafter, Rubio’s campaign spokesman urged his supporters in OH to vote for his rival, the state’s Gov. John Kasich, in an effort to stop Trump, who is the front-runner for the GOP presidential nod.

“I already talked about the fact that I think Hillary Clinton would be awful for this country, but the fact that you’re even asking me that question …”

Rubio echoed that sentiment.

Trump, the 69-year-old real estate tycoon, is said to be the favourite at this point of time as he has the maximum number of 460 delegates followed by Cruz (367), Rubio (153) and the Ohio Governor John Kasich 63.

“I can tell you that in Florida, I’m the only one who can beat Donald Trump”, Rubio added.

Tuesday is expected to be a decisive day on the path to the GOP nomination, with five key states – Illinois, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Missouri – holding primaries.

“Clearly John Kasich has a better chance of stopping Donald Trump in OH than I do, ” Rubio said during an event Friday in West Palm Beach, Florida.

HEATH, Ohio (AP) – John Kasich on Saturday delivered his harshest criticism yet of Donald Trump, saying he’s “had it” with the “toxic” nature of Trump’s campaign and suggesting he may not support the businessman should he become the Republican nominee.

“I’m running for president”, Rubio said when asked by CNN’s Dana Bash about the possibility of him joining a Cruz ticket.

So it was Friday morning, after Marco Rubio’s communications director, Alex Conant, floated a proposal by the voters of OH and Florida.

Hundreds of anti-protesters cheered after the announcement was made, and angry Trump supporters screamed back “Trump!”

The Florida senator emphasized there had not been a discussion between him and Kasich about stopping Trump’s rise. Ted Cruz picked up nine of the 12 delegates awarded in Wyoming’s county conventions. Trump did not explain what had happened, but said: “Thank you for the warning”. Tonight is the last Republican debate before Florida and OH vote on March 15. If no candidate has won a majority of the delegates by that time, the delegates will have the chance to decide the nominee by a series of ballots in a contested convention. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus warned candidates to play nice, telling CNN that he would like to see “more of a G-rated debate”.

“Be for me”, Kasich said.

Marco Rubio narrowly won the District of Columbia’s Republican caucuses on Saturday, seizing his third primary season victory as a critical contest looms in his home state.

Cruz is forcefully trying to close the narrowing gap between him and Trump, while Kasich still hasn’t won first place in any states.
