Rubio could see campaign fortunes rise from Iowa finish

Trump said he would have won Iowa if the Carson rumor had not been allowed to spread, suggesting that Cruz picked up votes that would have otherwise gone to Carson. “It’s clear that there were people who tried to take advantage of a situation, who tried to distort information”, Carson said.

The impetus for Trump’s fraud accusation appeared to be an erroneous claim from Cruz’s campaign Monday night during the caucuses that Ben Carson was poised to drop out of the race.

“Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and SC, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story”, Cruz said in the statement.

Carson called Cruz out for it, Cruz apologized and everyone went on their merry way.

The real estate mogul on Wednesday accused Cruz, a USA senator from Texas, on Twitter of stealing his victory in Iowa. “And I got to tell you – Caroline and Catherine are better behaved than a presidential candidate who responds by insulting everyone every day when he loses”.

Carson said the Monday comment amounted to “dirty tricks”. The former neurosurgeon would not directly answer whether he think Cruz should fire the staffers that started the rumors. But Carson brought up his own campaign staff shakeup: “When I discovered that there were things in my campaign that I couldn’t agree with after really doing an investigation”. Tim Scott, R-S.C. – to make inroads to Trump’s polling lead there and for Clinton to establish a solid beachhead. Fellow GOP candidate Donald Trump also jumped into the fray on Twitter. “Also, Cruz sent out a VOTER VIOLATION certificate to thousands of voters”, Trump added in his social media rant.

There’s virtually no chance for the results to be invalidated or a new election held.

According to the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s office, roughly 43 percent of the state’s voters are not registered with either the Democratic or Republican party.
