The exit polls from MI and MS will offer clues about whether Sanders is making any progress in expanding support beyond his devoted followers in the under-30 crowd, and making any inroads in the overwhelming support that Clinton has enjoyed with black voters.

As Sen. Ted Cruz is narrowing the gap between he and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, both candidates would like to see a one-on-one race between the two.

Four states had their Republican primaries or caucuses on Saturday, but Trump, who has dominated the Republican race thus far, walked away with only two slight victories in Louisiana and Kentucky. Marco Rubio, R-Florida and Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio as their runner-ups to Trump. Marco Rubio in next week’s Florida winner-take-all presidential primary, a new Monmouth University poll finds.

However, with most of the southern states going to Trump, it will be hard for Cruz to win the nomination, since the election is now moving towards the Midwest. A candidate needs 1,237 delegates to win the nomination.

Romney, a MI native, had remained neutral in the Republican presidential primaries until Thursday when he delivered a blistering speech calling Trump a misogynistic “con man” who engages in “bullying” and “absurd, third-grade theatrics”. He enjoys a substantial lead in the polls in MI and MS, though Cruz has a steady bloc of support and Kasich has shown signs of gaining in the former.

The Mitchell/FOX 2 Detroit poll has Clinton winning big over Sanders, 61 to 34 percent.

“I’m not a normal Republican”, Trump said last week in Macomb County, the place where the fabled phenomenon of Reagan Democrats, who dropped their party affiliation to side with the Republican president, was first identified.

“Well, let me start by saying that, the last time I checked as of last night, Donald Trump had received 3.6 million votes, which is a good number”, she said at Sunday night’s debate in Flint, Mich.

“I am the conservative that can unite this party”, Rubio declared.

Cruz, a senator from Texas, heaped pressure on Kasich and Rubio to abandon the race.

Trying to make a stand in Michigan, Sanders has accused Clinton of being disingenuous when she asserted that he opposed the auto bailout that rescued carmakers General Motors and Chrysler during the Great Recession. Three days ago, the Cruz campaign proper announced that it was opening 10 offices in the state.

Current polls show Trump with 36% of the Michigan Voters, with Cruz coming in second at 23%.

A loss in Florida, his home state, which votes next week, will effectively end his campaign, although a win in Puerto Rico had him talking up his chances yesterday.

“This has been a hard decision for a lot of us”, Bryant said. When he announced plans to run again, most people I know thought he’d bow out early in the primaries when no one voted for him.
