Rubio, Murphy hold commanding leads in US Senate primaries

The Polling Institute at Saint Leo University survey showed that among 532 Democrats polled, Murphy led Grayson by 30 points, with 47.7 percent supporting Murphy and 17.4 percent supporting Grayson.

Murphy will watch the election night results in South Florida but already has eyes on the general election with ad time already bought for the projected race against Rubio.

Meanwhile, the poll suggests that Rubio and Murphy will both easily secure their party’s nomination in the upcoming primary elections.

Rubio is also ahead with Hispanics, 49 to 41 percent.

Rubio holds a 61 percent to 22 percent lead over his strongest primary challenger land developer Carlos Beruff, and Murphy leads his Democratic primary opponent Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., by 55 percent to 22 percent.

The online poll was conducted August 14-18 of 1,380 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points.

The margin of error for the Senate primary races is 5 percentage points. Rubio leads with men 50 to 38 percent, while Murphy leads with women 47 to 43 percent.
