Incumbent Republicans Pat Toomey and Marco Rubio are struggling to hold on to their seats in their respective Senate races, according to new poll out Thursday – and it could be due to a “Trump effect”.

“At this stage of the campaign, Republican U.S. Senate candidates may be running against their own presidential nominee, Donald Trump, as much as they are against their Democratic opponents”, said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, in a statement following the poll results. The event is sponsored by the American Family Association & features the Liberty Counsel both notoriously anti-LGBT organizations dubbed hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
