Rubio out, as remaining U.S. presidential hopefuls continue race for nominations
Mr Kasich’s win in OH, his first in the nominating fight, makes him the candidate of choice for party leaders anxious Mr Trump’s rowdy campaign will lead Republicans to defeat not only in the presidential race, but in state and U.S. congressional races. I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically”, Mr Trump told CNN the morning after his latest round of election victories, in the states of Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.

He tells anchor Chris Cuomo, “I wouldn’t lead it”, but said unrest could happen.
On the Democratic side, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton won in Florida, Ohio and North Carolina, putting more distance between herself and rival Bernie Sanders, a Vermont senator.
While Florida Senator Marco Rubio lost his home state to GOP front-runner Donald Trump and was forced to suspend his campaign, he was still able to wrangle 33 percent of young voters ages 18 to 29, compared to Trump who won 36 percent of the demographic. But if no candidate reaches the requisite 1,237 delegates required to clinch the GOP nomination by the first vote, we’ll get a contested convention.
“I think you would have riots”, he said. So, what happens if no candidate reaches the target delegate number?
There are 21 states still to vote in primaries and caucuses, with Mr Trump now on 661 delegates, Ted Cruz on 406 and John Kasich on 142.
The front runner for the Republican presidential nomination said Wednesday on Fox News that he’s committed to a big speech the same night.
“Tuesday’s result inches Clinton ever closer to being the certain Democratic nominee”, said Michael Martinez, a political science professor at the University of Miami. Both Clinton and Trump collected several wins Tuesday night, and the GOP pool is now down to just three candidates. Kasich nabbed 12.7% and 9 delegates, while Rubio won 7.7% and only 5 delegates.
Trump now has 621 delegates.
Clinton exuded confidence that she was on her way to win the party’s presidential nomination.
“We are moving closer to securing the democratic party nomination and winning this election in November”, said Mrs Clinton, as she spoke to supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida. With almost all precincts reporting, he led Rubio by nearly 20 points in the state, taking home all of its 99 delegates.

After yesterday’s victories, Mr Trump needs to win about 54%t of the roughly 1,100 delegates still up for grabs.
