Rubio to campaign in The Villages

Rubio and Trump have criticized each other’s campaigns.

“Look we had a president who came in and said the same kind of thing – new and improved, hope and change – and he didn’t have the leadership skills to fix things”, Bush said.

This booming, overwhelmingly Republican stronghold of more than 100,000 residents spreads across 32 square miles of Sumter, Lake and Marion counties. As Republicans begin to scan their options more carefully, Rubio seems especially ready press his luck. Rubio had said, without naming Bush, that the time is ripe for a new generation of leadership.

The long-simmering rivalry between Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio has finally spilled out into the open.

He said America’s enemies around the world include a “lunatic” in North Korea in Kim Jong Un and a “gangster” in Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Donald Trump drew boos from religious conservatives Friday after he called Marco Rubio a “clown” and attacked him on immigration.

We know that Bush has raised more money than any other candidate while at the same putting together an impressive campaign team with people on the ground in all 50 states. But this year, I’m wondering where the new, fresh ideas are from the Republican Party.

Wallace noted that Bush’s comments are being compared to comments made by 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

“He is a very sensitive person”, Rubio said.

He also talked about creating alternatives to higher education by expanding vocational training. Bush didn’t even know what the Paycheck Fairness Act was when asked about it. That’s not leadership – that’s out of touch with the economic needs of women. Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior aide to President Obama said last week on Twitter “If Jeb’s last name was Walker, he’d be out of the race by now”. “For months, I have been urging both parties to use the presidential primary results”.

That new generation pitch appeared to hit the right note with the white-haired Republicans at The Villages, many of them questioning Bush’s ability to win the general election and calling Rubio a far stronger candidate. He appreciates Rubio’s intellect, experience and style. Obama was elected to the White House at age 47, just four years after winning a U.S. Senate seat. “It’s time that a younger generation step forward to take up the reins, and I think Sen”. In fact, Rubio’s time in Washington is a flawless illustration of why that’s the case.

Rubio received a warm reception at the same conference earlier in the day, including a standing ovation when he told the crowd that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was stepping down.

Trump – whose first campaign appearance in the Granite State in June was a theatrical spectacle featuring beauty contestants, vicious putdowns and even one woman testing the durability of The Donald’s hair – spent much of last night sounding like a politician, talking at length about the details of his tax plan and Syria, despite veering into his expletive-punctuated putdown of his rivals.

Bush, in his response, spoke of the need to work with allies in the region to defeat Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in the process of wiping out the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
