Rubio wins Puerto Rico primary, CNN projects
But with Trump evenly splitting four states with a resurgent Ted Cruz and Rubio’s failure to finish higher than third in any of the Super Saturday contests, the spin cycle has been thrown into full effect. Rubio’s campaign now largely hinges on taking first place in Florida’s 99-delegate, winner-take-all primary on March 15 – and the state’s Puerto Rican population could help there.

Trump and Cruz claimed the top two spots in each of the counties reporting.
“Here’s my message to the Republican Party and conservative movement: I’d rather risk losing without Donald Trump than try to win with him because it will do more damage over time”, said Graham. The results did not alter the contours of a race in which Mrs Clinton maintains a significant delegate lead. Sanders now has seven state wins to Clinton’s 12. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal/ Marist poll showed Trump with 41% in the state, compared with 22% for Cruz.
The two candidates are competing in the ME caucuses on Sunday, where 25 delegates are up for grabs.
Yet Cruz, who often boasts of his clashes with the establishment wing of his own party, slammed the “fevered talk of the Washington establishment” that Republican National Convention delegates could nominate a candidate at odds with the wishes of a plurality of voters.
Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, pushed the idea of a convention fight during a blistering anti-Trump speech this week.
“I think they should get together, and I think everybody should be unified”, the GOP front-runner said on the same program. “We’re going to hold it to June or July, ‘” Cruz told host John Dickerson at about 4:25 into the interview.
The senator is now warming up to the Texas senator, the candidate he said is making the biggest strides toward being a possible alternative to Trump. We beat Ted Cruz in Virginia.
Rubio is trying to prevent Trump and Cruz from running away with the race. Rival campaigns are exploring ways to prevent Trump from getting the delegates he needs to win the nomination outright, then defeat him at the convention in July.
“What it represents is Republicans coalescing, saying it would be a disaster for Donald Trump to be our nominee”, he said. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Ohio Gov. Kasich. “And it’ll be a whole new ballgame and I’ll be able to compete in a lot of these states”.
Clinton actually won more delegates than Sanders and maintains a significant lead in the delegate count, with 1,121 delegates compared to 479 for Sanders. “I think it’s wrong”.
Also, Democrats were debating debate Sunday night in Flint, Michigan, highlighting differences on economic policy.

Prior to the contest in Maine, Clinton had at least 1,123 delegates to Sanders’ 484, including superdelegates – members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice. It takes 2,383 delegates to win the Democratic nomination.
