Rudi Voller thinks Bastian Schweinsteiger still has two years at the top

Bayer Leverkusen’s director of sport Rudi Voller believes Bastian Schweinsteiger has at least another two years at the “highest level” despite reports he may be set for a Manchester United exit.

Schweinsteiger has been banished from the Manchester United first-team squad by new manager Jose Mourinho and is expected to leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

Rudi Voller believes global retirement can help Manchester United misfit Bastian Schweinsteiger continue playing club football at the highest level.

Valencia, who only made 22 appearances for the Red Devils last season, has reportedly been offered a four-year deal by the Turkish giants and will now have to decide his next move. “That’s it. I had to make my decision”, Mourinho said on Schweinsteiger, adding that United hope to close the Pogba deal in time for the start of the Premier League season next weekend.

Völler was Germany coach from 2000 until 2004, the year he handed Schweinsteiger his debut; the midfielder going on to captain his country, scoring 24 goals and winning 120 caps before retiring from worldwide football last month.

Voller cited Bayern Munich’s Philipp Lahm, who stopped playing for Germany after the World Cup 2014 success in Brazil, as an indication of the benefits of focusing on club football late in a player’s career.

“It will help him [Schweinsteiger] that he no longer plays for the German national team”, Voller said. This news story is related to Print/140920-Schweinsteiger-to-keep-playing-at-top-level-Voeller/ – breaking news, latest news, pakistan ne.
