Rudy Giuliani claims ‘no successful radical Islamic terrorist attack’ before Barack Obama

Former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani appeared to briefly forget about the 11 September, 2001, attacks at a Trump rally this week. Again, I realize Giuliani was referring to a time after 9/11, but for anyone who cares about the factual details, domestic terrorism didn’t begin on President Obama’s inauguration day and it won’t end after his successor is sworn in.

Rudy Giuliani said Monday there were no “radical Islamic terrorist” attacks in the United States in the eight years before President Barack Obama took office.

While campaigning in OH for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Giuliani slammed Democratic presidential nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama.

In the wake of the September 11 attacks, Giuliani was lauded for helping the city heal and uniting New Yorkers.

On Monday, former mayor Rudy Giuliani was speaking in favor of Donald Trump when he made an outrageous statement of his own.

Giuliani’s 9/11 omission, however, was the former mayor’s most glaring gaffe – and it didn’t go unnoticed by outraged survivors of the devastating attacks that killed almost 3,000 people and wounded more than 6,000 others.

“Giuliani forgets about 9/11, claims no terror attacks before Obama”, the New York Daily News wrote.

Giuliani had referred to the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in NY moments before making that remark.

But as Jeet Heer, a senior editor at the New Republic, observes, Giuliani didn’t forget about the attacks in 2001, he just doesn’t think they should count. They did. We don’t want this war. “I only say that he was the president at the time, and you know, you could say the buck stops here”. The publication adds that Giuliani told Americans that Muslims or people of Arab descent should not be attacked or held responsible for 9/11. As Trump told Jeb Bush this past February, “the World Trade Center came down under your brother’s reign, remember that”.
