Rugby World Cup victor Sonny Bill Williams made this 14-year-old boy’s dreams
New Zealand’s Sonny Bill Williams has gifted his Rugby World Cup winners medal to a young fan after the boy ran on to the pitch at Twickenham during their celebrations. But on Monday it was back to reality for the 14-year-old following his close encounter with the New Zealand star Sonny Bill Williams as he got on with his lessons at one of the UK’s most famous sporting schools. “I felt sorry for the little fella”, Williams said to The Guardian.

Singapore Rugby Union president Low Teo Ping said Williams’ likely participation at the Singapore Sevens was “tremendous news”, describing him as a “superstar who not only plays good rugby but has a heart”.
Williams hit the headlines around the world when he gave his winner’s medal to a young fan after the final on Saturday. “It will be a night that he remembers hopefully”.
“Rather than have the medal hanging up at home, it’s going to hanging around that young fella’s neck”.

But Line can at least claim to be the only player in the northern hemisphere with a World Cup winner’s medal. Sonny Bill Williams defines the term “super sub” and his two sensational offloads set up Ma’a Nonu’s try.
“I still don’t want it to end to be honest”.
“I know he’ll appreciate it and when he gets older he’ll be telling kids – that’s more special than it just hanging on a wall”.
“You’d have to say this is the best team I’ve been involved in, winning back-to-back World Cups, doing something that’s never been done before”.
But McCaw has kept everyone guessing by refusing to definitively call time on his career, saying after the final: “If you get moments like this, why would you ever call it a day?”
“There’s been a lot made of the rivalry between me and him for the 12 jersey, but it has pushed both of us to make the best of ourselves to help the team”.
“Australia were quality and thank God we hung on”. It was getting pretty tight there, but the boys dug deep and that’s where you learn, that our team is more than a team, it’s like a brotherhood.

“World Rugby would like every victor this evening to go home with a medal, so they’ve rummaged in the store cupboard and they have found the final one”, said the event’s host Alex Payne, before Williams was given a standing ovation.
