Rumor: Ubisoft to Skip Assassin’s Creed 2016 to Revamp the Series
As surprising as it sounds, according to Autoomobile; a Ubisoft developer made a post on 4chan saying that there will not be an Assassin’s Creed in 2016 as developers need more time to entirely revamp the franchise. Assassin’s Creed is said to be coming back in 2017 though, and will be set in Egypt. Before assuming all of this as truth, please take this news with a mountain of salt.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the longest running franchises out there.
For now, the only officially announced Assassin’s Creed products for 2016 include more of the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles side-scrolling adventures, set in India and Russian Federation, releasing in January and February 2016, and the live action movie starring Michael Fassbender as an all-new assassin set in the universe established by the games so far. You may leave any question you want answered.
While 4Chan has been a notorious place when it comes to rumors, this one in particular doesn’t look as flavorful as the others.
Of course, Assassin’s Creed wont’ actually be taking a year off, as the film will release this year, so even the die hard can be satiated.
The decision to delay Empire was made after 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity. Three of them told me the game would indeed launch in 2017.

Of course, it should again be noted that all of this is just speculation. That would make 2016 the first year there hasn’t been a new game since 2008. At least you’ll still get your open world checklist fix, eh?
