RUMOURS: Southampton reject Liverpool’s Long bid
How much? Should not be the key question for the Long camp if a deal is to be put on the table but rather: do you really want me?

Liverpool have had an £8m bid for Southampton striker Shane Long rejected, according to various reports.
The players at Klopp’s disposal have been profligate in front of goal and £32.5m summer signing Christian Benteke is the top scorer with seven goals in all competitions.
Shane Long is better than any striker at Liverpool right now and would be more appreciated by Kop fans if he was English, says the Irishman’s former team-mate Stephen Hunt.
“The problem is going to be trying to entice players to Anfield without the Champions League”, Murphy told Talksport.
City scouts are said to have watched Oxford, who can play in central defence or midfield, in his last three appearances for West Ham’s Under-21 side as they look to add more home-grown talent to their squad.
“Obviously Jurgen Klopp will have relationships with some players from the past that he might be able to use”.
“I was surprised how long it took for Klopp to bring Benteke on”.

Curiously, Liverpool are also being linked with a move for Javier Hernández, who – unlike Long – has never hurled in Croke Park for Tipperary but is nicknamed after a common garden vegetable… which is nearly as good. “He’s a very honest player but he is not a proven goalscorer and that’s what Liverpool require at this moment in time”.
