Run Your Android Device Through Your Desktop With Vysor

Vysor was originally intended to be kept on the downlow, but folks on Reddit stumbled across its Chrome extension thus forcing its developer to go public about it. There’s a new app, for Android devices only, that lets you manage your smartphone right from Chrome. But not only does it let you mirror and control your Android devices, you can also share your Android device’s connection session with anyone else in the world through an easily shareable link. There’s a bit of a delay when looking at the screen that’s mirrored.

The app was created by Koushik Dutta.

Vysor differs from other remote viewing apps in its ability to act like an Android emulator, only the emulator is whatever’s actually installed on your phone and not a virtual environment meant just for testing and debugging. Make sure that you have all the required drivers installed on your PC. Koush, as he’s known by the Android developer community, is best known for his work on AllCast, an app that allows smartphone users to send their photos, videos and music to an Android TV device. In case ADB isn’t enabled on your device, head over to Settings > About > Build Number.

Now start the Vysor app in Chrome.

What’s important to note is that you don’t have to root your device to run Vysor, which is a requirement for similar apps. Your smartphone screen will now show up in the Vysor dialogue box.

Now the app is in beta, so some glitches can be expected, but it works on Mac and Windows PC because the desktop component takes place inside Chrome.
