When a cow escaped a Queens slaughterhouse Thursday, the ending was bleak.

Runaway Freddie then wandered into a garage on 165th street, opposite the slaughterhouse, where it was brought under control by members of NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit.

Stura told DNAinfo he drove from New Jersey to the slaughterhouse last night after seeing the cow on the news.

“Say hello to Freddie…”, the Skylands Animal Sanctuary said in a Facebook post Friday.

Alas, workers at the Jamaica Archer Live Poultry, and Meat Market confirm the roaming prime rib will soon be on a dinner plate.

“I was able to get the owner on the phone right away and at first he was pretty receptive”, Michael Stura who runs the Skylands Animal Sanctuary told the Daily News. “Thank you all for your patience”, their Twitter post said, according to the New York Post.

Stura, who owns the Skylands Animal Sanctuary And Rescue, gave the cow a permanent home.

Freddie had somehow managed to escape while being taken to market in Queens on Thursday, and videos flooded the internet of his brief, mad dash across the city. “But he said the animal was promised to a family that had some big event coming up and he would call them”.

Freddie will join about 75 animals at the sanctuary, including 18 other cows.
