Rush Limbaugh Stands Up for Cruz Over Rubio on Immigration
So, had Cruz said “any new background checks”, he would have been right.

Voters at Cruz’s Las Vegas rally on Thursday felt differently.
Ted Cruz, locked in a heated battle with Marco Rubio over their immigration records, received an assist Saturday afternoon from one of the most hardline opponents of illegal immigration in the U.S. Senate. Marco Rubio called out Texas Sen.
Critics from the Republican Primary are pouncing on Ted Cruz this weekend as rumors fly regarding the Texas Senator’s stance on immigration.
“If you looked at money raised, organization, paid staff, things like that, I think most people following the campaign can tell the difference between a real campaign and those who are just sort of putting their name in the hat”, he said.
The bill in question would have prevented undocumented migrants from obtaining citizenship if they entered the country legally, but they would have been permitted to stay, according to the Cruz amendment, not citizens but legal residents.
Rubio was a Jeb Bush acolyte who embraced the Tea Party and ran for senator in Florida against Charlie Crist.
Cruz said that both he and Rubio campaigned for the Senate saying they would fight amnesty but Rubio reversed course once he made it to Washington. “It’s not an attack”.
“Cruz aides, some using the hash tag “#MarcoNoShow”, pounced on Rubio’s absence from the vote – he was stumping in Iowa at the time – also needling him over his relatively slow schedule on the campaign trail.
Rubio distanced himself from his own plan as the presidential contest neared, suggesting it was a mistake to push for comprehensive legislation. I half expected her to pull out a 9 mil on Rubio, shoot him in the leg, and scream “Citizenship, motherfucker!” At that point he said, “I think we should have a conversation with the American people about what we should do about whatever smaller population remains”.
Yet even as he went to bat for Cruz, Sessions seemed to acknowledge the issue was causing some trouble for Cruz. Marco Rubio of Florida, is aggressively accusing Cruz of changing positions. “I oppose legalization. Marco Rubio supports legalization”, Cruz told reporters gathered before the event at Life Church, a Pentecostal church in this conservative pocket of Virginia. “He’s the one that supports a 500-percent increase in guest workers into the United States, and he’s the one that supported legalization and legalizing people that are in the country illegally”.
“I think he wanted to have to have it both ways”, Jacoby told TPM. I oppose legalization for those here illegally. In fact, Rubio slammed Charlie Crist for being pro-amnesty and very specifically said he opposed giving illegal aliens citizenship. “I encourage Sen. Rubio or any other candidate running to make that same statement, to be clear where they stand”. There’s no logical reason for Cruz to attack citizenship but not legalization unless he’s leaving the door open a crack for the latter. He attempted to do so by pointing to an amendment Cruz proposed that would have enabled illegal immigrants to obtain legal status.
The full bill later passed the Senate 68 to 32, with Cruz opposing and Rubio supporting it. Rubio has since backed away from the bill, saying that reform must be done piece by piece.
And by exposing the hypocrisy, by calling their bluff, we won. Around 54 percent of unauthorized Latino immigrants in 2013 said they identified with or leaned toward the Democratic party, compared to 19 percent who said the same of the Republican Party.

It’s not a debate among the nation’s surging Hispanic population: About three-quarters support a pathway to citizenship. As for the Journal, numerous highly conservative potential voters flocking around Trump and Cruz might disagree that it’s a center-right publication.
