It seems Durant’s exit has the folks in Vegas confident in Westbrook’s ability to earn his first career MVP award. The star player of the Golden State Warriors is listed at 4/1 odds while the Cleveland Cavalier’s superstar is at 5/1.

Erik Horne of The Oklahoman wrote that it is not anymore surprising why Westbrook is the early frontrunner for the MVP honors next season.

After years of being built around a consistent core, the Thunder are going to look a lot different next season, and not just because of Durant’s free agency. He averaged 28.15 points, 8.57 assists and 7.28 rebounds per game that year, with Durant only playing in 27 games because of a foot injury. Westbrook became a triple-double machine, which explains why many considered him to be the MVP at the end of the season.
