Russia Gave Warning of Syria Cruise Missile Strikes

A submerged submarine fired water-to-surface cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, Shoigu told Putin.

Russian Federation for the first time in the Syria conflict used submarine-launched cruise missiles which President Vladimir Putin said at some point could be equipped with nuclear warheads.

Not only has the Russian president announced all kinds of sanctions against Turkey, but he’s now also surrounding the Islamist-led country with his military. On October 8, the Syrian army passed to a large-scale offensive. He said the Russian military has not asked the government for further funds for the campaign. It initially comprised over 50 aircraft and helicopters, including Sukhoi Su-24M, Su-25SM and state-of-the-art Su-34 aircraft.

Britain’s United Nations ambassador says he expects progress on defining who’s part of the Syrian opposition and who’s “a terrorist” ahead of a ministerial meeting in NY next week of key parties trying to end Syria’s almost five-year civil war.

“These trainers in Bashiqa camp were threatened by Daesh because it is 15-20 km from Mosul and they have only light arms”, he said, using an Arabic name for Islamic State.

Erdogan was said to have complained that Putin did not given him enough time during a short visit to Moscow last September, and left him in the dark about Russia’s imminent airstrikes in Syria.

“They want to expel them, they want to ethnically cleanse this area so that the regime (of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad) and Russian bases in Latakia and Tartus are protected”, he said, speaking English. Two Russian servicemen were killed.

Gatilov said Russian Federation would be calling for the “intensification of joint efforts” in the “fight against terrorism”.

Then there are its advanced surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missile systems that began turning up last month, after Turkey shot down a Russian jet that it said violated Turkish airspace.

Turkey says it is training the fighters to take on Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil), but Baghdad fears that it is effectively supporting a partitioning of the country, and preparing for a future clash with Iranian-backed Shia militias loyal to the central government.

“As I understand, the flight data recorder will give us the opportunity to understand the Su-24’s trajectory from the moment of its takeoff to the moment of the crash”, Putin said. Those ties were widely seen as immune to the escalating war of words because Turkey needs Russian energy, and Russia needs the Turkish market.

If only she could get the Turkish fabric to make them.

“We’ve been registering the missiles launches, flights and, of course, their hitting the targets”.
