Russia has black box of downed jet, will analyse it: Vladimir Putin

Putin said the black box would help determine the downed jet’s flight path, a subject of dispute between Ankara and Moscow.

Moscow and Ankara are locked in their worst crisis since the Cold War over the November 24 jet downing on Turkey’s border with Syria, sparking fury and economic sanctions from the Kremlin.

The resolution, signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, bans from January 1 imports of foodstuffs, including poultry meat, a variety of fresh, frozen and dried fruit and vegetables, as well as cloves and table salt.

The resolution cuts the number of annual licenses for 2016 granted to Turkish cargo transporters by road to 2,000 with a prospect of canceling them altogether. Separately, Iraq has accused Turkey of violating its sovereignty by deploying a heavily armed contingent of forces to a camp near the front line in northern Iraq last week.

Speaking to the Russian Tass news agency in an interview, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu called for common sense and calm so as not to further jeopardize bilateral relations.

Lavrov also said that Moscow has long known about the use of Turkish territory for the training of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants for a number of operations, including in the North Caucasus, but was reluctant to talk about it publicly, not wanting to believe that official support came from Ankara.
