According to satellite data, the number of oil tankers moving through the northern route towards the refinery in the [Turkish] city of Batman has considerably diminished, Rudskoy said, adding that the number of tankers using the western route, between the Turkish cities of Reyhanli [on the Syrian border] and the city of Iskenderun, has decreased to 265 vehicles.

After Turkey shot down a Russian bomber at the Syrian border last month, Moscow accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his family of involvement in the illegal oil trade with ISIL jihadists, claims Ankara has strongly denied.
Turkey and Russian Federation, which were previously close economic partners, are at odds over Syria. The Russian envoy said he is seeing more willingness from Assad’s opponents, like Qatar, to launch the talks between the Syrian government and the opposition.

Media reports quoted him before the visit as saying he wanted to open a representative office for his party in Moscow.
