The head of Russia s trampolining federation, Nikolai Makarov, told TASS news agency that he had received “verbal permission” from the sport s worldwide authorities for the team to take part.

“This contribution will include a request to review and clarify the responsibility, structure, procedure and investment of all parties involved in the fight against doping”, ASOIF says. A recent report by World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren alleged a jaw-dropping level of state-sponsored doping and coverups of hundreds of failed drug tests.

Still awaiting their fate at the time of writing are three taekwondo fighters, three table tennis players, eight weightlifters, four badminton players and one golfer. “We’re looking forward to a great Games and we’ve always had confidence in Brazil and the Brazilians”. However, the Russian president also agreed that deliberate cheaters should be punished.

Today Brazil is in economic retreat, while Lula faces serious corruption allegations and his handpicked successor Dilma Rousseff risks being removed from office in an impeachment vote shortly after the Games end.

Volleyball player Sergei Tetyukhin, a four-time Olympic medalist, will be Russia’s flagbearer for the opening ceremony in Rio, according to an Instagram post by pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva.

Aside from their protective gear, fighters typically wear an all-white uniform.

The channel’s commercial and marketing department is located in the IOC’s home city of Lausanne, Switzerland, while the production is run from Madrid, headquarters of the Olympic Broadcasting Services.

The federation expects more national committees to submit their proposed designs. Each athlete underwent full testing and was not implicated in the McLaren findings that were released Jul. 18.

The idea comes from the governing body’s technical committee, which is attempting to find ways for the traditional Korean martial art to evolve and modernize – hoping the move might help fans more easily identify athletes.

Equestrian: FEI president Ingmar De Vos said there was “no indication of any organized doping malpractices within the Russian equestrian delegation”, allowing the Russian equestrian team to compete at Rio.

“Many, including clean athletes and whistleblowers, have demonstrated courage and strength in confronting a culture of state-supported doping and corruption within Russia”, USADA chief Travis Tygart said in response. Most of the track and field team and various other competitors have been barred from competing in Rio.

Addressing members of Russia’s Olympic team in the Kremlin on Wednesday, Putin said a decision by global sporting organisations to ban Russian track-and-field athletes and sportspeople in everything from swimming to rowing flew in the face of common sense and legality.

“The other sportsmen understand that the quality of their medals will be different”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin then expressed his disappointment while speaking to the athletes in Kremlin.

However, out of the 387 athletes that Russian Federation meant to send, 250 of them are still able to join the competition, to start on August 5.
