Russia’s first Syria air strike ‘kills 36 civilians’
Russian Federation said earlier on Wednesday it had launched airstrikes against Islamic State militants.

“We see that this coalition has been operating in Syria for a year, 5,000 airstrikes have been carried out, and Islamic State is still there”, Orlov said.
Moscow says its strikes on Wednesday hit eight Islamic State targets.
“We agreed on the imperative of as soon as possible – perhaps even as soon as tomorrow, but as soon as possible – having a military-to-military de-confliction discussion”, Kerry said during a joint press conference following a meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
“Fighting ISIL without pursuing a parallel political transition only risks escalating the civil war in Syria and, with it, the very extremism and instability that Moscow claims to be concerned about”, said Defense Secretary Ash Carter.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says airstrikes in the central province of Hama on Thursday hit locations of the U.S-backed rebel group, Tajamu Alezzah.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken of cooperation during a meeting Monday with US President Barack Obama.
According to reports from the official Syrian Arab News Agency, Russian support against Daesh comes “at the request of the Syrian state”.
“They expressed doubt, arguing that there is evidence, which we asked to show us, because we stand by our targets”, Russia’s top diplomat said, in the comments also released by the foreign ministry in Moscow.
Putin is seeking to muscle his way back onto the world stage after months of Western isolation following Russia’s seizure of Crimea from Ukraine and support for a separatist insurgency in the east of the ex-Soviet country.
Twenty airstrikes destroyed a command center of Islamic State militants as well as ammunition depots, the defense ministry said.
Putin said he was striking against Islamic State and helping Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, long Russia’s closest ally in the region, in this aim.
The defence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the targets were the same ones Russian reconnaissance craft had flown over in recent days.
The Russian defence ministry said its attacks were directed at IS military attacks.

The former United States of America senator added that this is a chance for the U.S.to force the question of how the Syrian war, which started in March 2011, can finally come to an end.
