Russia’s Putin – why did Britain call Brexit referendum?

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday denied the existence of any state-sponsored doping programme in the country amid a series of doping allegations that have battered the country’s sports community. With regard to Moscow’s ties with the West, which has been at its lowest point ever since the end of the Cold War, Putin said global confrontation should not be the basis for the development of worldwide relations. But here we shouldn’t go too far, we must act based on today’s realities’. “We accept that”, Russian leader stated, adding he is ready to work with whoever becomes the next President of the United States. “Why does the alliance have to continuously expand its infrastructure up to Russia’s borders?” The weekend was set to underline the futility of European and USA sanctions which were imposed on Russian Federation over the 2014 annexation of Crimea and its interference in eastern Ukraine. “We probably are the only country having a paid channel where Indian movies are constantly shown”, he said.

Putin earlier on Friday dodged the question of whether he would prefer Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton as the new commander-in-chief.

But Putin said that while he has his own views on Brexit, the vote is “none of our business – it is the business of the people of the UK”.

“We don’t want to be told how to live by Americans”, Putin stated.
