Russia to impose economic sanctions on Turkey over jet downing

Turkey said it shot down the Russian warplane after it repeatedly violated air space above the Turkish border.
A representative of Russia’s navy stationed in Turkey and working as a liaison between Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and Turkey’s navy was also recalled, the statement added.
“They (Russian military jets) have identification signs and these are well visible”, Putin said and added.
Russian Federation said earlier this week that it would not consider military action after its plane was shot down, but has warned of “serious consequences” for relations with Ankara.
Russia plans to impose sanctions and freeze investment projects in Turkey in response to its downing of a Russian warplane on the Turkish-Syrian border, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was quoted as saying Thursday. A Russian pilot died in the incident.
“Turkey also Thursday summoned the Russian ambassador to Ankara over a violent demonstration outside its embassy in Moscow over the jet downing”.
Syrian rebels released a video apparently showing the dead body of the second pilot, who was identified by Russian Federation as Lt. Col. Oleg Peshkov.
Germany said it will deploy Tornado reconnaissance jets to support France in the fight against Islamic State in Syria.
In September, Moscow ordered airstrikes against Islamic State group in Syria upon the request of the the Syrian government of President Bashar Assad, and has since destroyed thousands of Islamic State group targets.

A military source told Turkey’s Anadolu agency: “Accompanied by police and gendarmes, 20 tanks were sent by rail from Turkey’s western provinces by railway to Gaziantep in the south of the country, and then redirected to the Syrian border”. The alliance has backed Turkey’s version of events, although it, too, is calling for “diplomacy and de-escalation” to resolve the situation. The US leads the anti-Daesh coalition, in which Turkey is member.
