Russian bombing of Syria may be a war crime
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region-A new report by Amnesty International claims that Russian air strikes have been responsible for at least 200 civilian deaths in Syria.

Amnesty International says Russian Federation may have committed war crimes during its military campaign in Syria.
In one incident from November 29 Amnesty has reason to believe that Russian missiles killed 49 civilians in a public market place in Ariha in Idlib province.
Sources inside Syria told Breitbart News last month that Russian Federation was dropping cluster munitions indiscriminately on civilian targets.
A report by human rights watchdog Amnesty International that said Russia’s bombing of Syria may amount to a war crime because of the number of civilians the strikes have killed is biased and contains ungrounded claims, Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Wednesday. In a few moments, the main street, packed with people buying and selling fruit and vegetables, turned into a scene of carnage with burning cars and the wounded screaming in terror. “I asked her “What is wrong?’, and she said: ‘My husband and three children were killed”. In addition it accuses Russian Federation of particular use “of cluster bombs” and “unguided bombs”. The group also proposed sitting down with Russian officials to discuss its findings.
“Jihadis in Syria operate in highly mobile units, using Toyota pickup trucks with high-calibre weapons mounted on them”, he said. It bases its tallies on Russian-caused casualties by the type of aircraft flown and the munitions used.
In one attack on October 15, near Homs, at least 46 civilians who were sheltering in a building basement were killed, Amnesty said.
He pointed out that militants used weapons mounted on vehicles and that “each vehicle is considered a tactical unit and represents a legitimate military target”. After reports and photos of the destroyed mosque emerged, the Russian authorities responded by calling it a “hoax”, presenting a satellite image purporting to show the mosque still intact. “Russia’s Ministry of Defense must be more transparent and disclose targets of their attacks in order to facilitate assessment of whether they are complying with their obligations under global humanitarian law”, said Amnesty’s Luther.
Alleged shrapnel of a cluster bomb is seen after the war crafts belonging to the Russian army attacked opposition controlled Merce neighborhood of Aleppo, Syria on December 14. What’s different with this report by Amnesty International is that it gives well documented examples of what happened on the ground.
Their “indiscriminate” and “disproportionate” use, the report says, should be stopped.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Ministry of Defense is investigating the report’s accuracy.
