Russian Federation says future use of Iran air base depends on Syria circumstances
Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

The revolution in 1979 overthrew the shah and brought the current Islamic Republic into being.
Russian Federation asked Iran and Iraq for permission to use their airspace fshoyuor ballistic missiles against Syrian targets, apparently from the Caspian Sea, part of a new offensive against ISIS from the East. The airstrikes have helped Assad retake territory lost to ISIS and other rebel groups.
Russian Federation announced what it described as a deal to use the Iranian base on August 16, saying it would shorten the distance flown by long-range bombers, which had been flying from southern Russian Federation.
“It was the subject which is over for now”, Xinhua quoted Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi as saying.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov rejected that suggestion.
Stephen O’Brien says Aleppo is being bombed every day, including a dozen new attacks Monday, and has become “the apex of horror” in “the greatest crisis of our time”. “Neither supply nor transfer or sale of military aircraft to Iran took place”.
Russian Federation first announced last week that its planes had flown combat missions from Iran, a move that represented a historical rapprochement between Moscow and Tehran. It had successfully negotiated a nuclear deal with the United States and shaken off the sanctions. Please see our terms of service for more information. “This is more like a demonstration of the abilities of the Russian armed forces, than a real military necessity”, he said. “We continue to pursue that”. The planes stationed are of two models: heavy long range bombers of the TU-22M3 model, and SU-34 bombers.
Turkey and Western powers, for their part, accused Russian Federation of striking at moderate Syrian opposition groups rather than terrorist targets.
A “significant number of militants” were also thought to be killed, the ministry said.
In response to the annulment, the Russian military issued a statement saying its planes had already completed their missions. “If the tests prove successful, the system will go into serial production, and its combat deployment will begin before the end of the year”, the minister said.

Relations between the two countries, long cordial, appeared to reach a new level last September when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a military intervention in Syria in support of Assad.
