“This will have consequences for Russia itself which is rightly fearful of attacks…in coming days, the Russians will begin to suffer from casualties”, Mr Carter said, speaking at a meeting of defence ministers in Brussels on Thursday.
Carter said Russian aircraft came within a few miles of a USA drone.

Our Defense Secretary is criticizing the Russian strategy, but where is ours?
The Russian defence ministry posted a graphic on its website on Wednesday showing 26 missiles overflying Iran and Iraq before striking inside Syria. Close ties between Russian Federation and Syria go a few way to explaining the action, and in particular Russia’s desire to protect its Mediterranean port at Tartus.

The high precision strikes might have been “unpleasant and surprising for our colleagues in the Pentagon”, but the fact is that “the missiles launched from the ships hit their targets,” he said.
