Despite a common enemy in the Islamic State, the USA and Russian coalitions have waged separate campaigns save for coordination over airspace.
But the USA, Britain and Free Syrian Army representatives have said the majority of the bombing raids to date have targeted moderate anti-Assad rebel forces instead. It has also taken credit for bombing a Russian passenger jet and killing 224 people late last month.
