Russian PM: ‘Irresponsible’ United States has empowered ISIS

That will follow two other high-profile meetings on Monday with allies.

The Syrian president believes that Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) is strongly dependent on foreign support.

Assad then credited Russia’s involvement in the fight against terrorism for “improving the situation” in Syria.

This explains the ongoing U.S.-Russia war, even after the end of communism, the war that was begun by U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush in 1990 just as the Soviet Union and its military alliance the Warsaw Pact were ending, and the United States and its military alliance North Atlantic Treaty Organisation continued and has since expanded right up to Russia’s very borders – the equivalent of Russia’s Warsaw Pact having absorbed Mexico or Canada and placed nuclear missiles right on America’s own border. He added that Syrian troops had achieved victories in a few areas before the strikes began but “could not be present everywhere in Syria”.

Following a telephone conversation with Hollande, Putin ordered his staff to coordinate with the French naval forces near Syria.

Obama said that, at multilateral talks in Vienna on a political solution to the conflict, Russian Federation agreed to a political transition process taking place, but had yet to commit to Assad “moving out”. Medvedev stated it was because Mr. Obama was more focused on his ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad while ignoring the growth and atrocities of ISIS. The White House hasn’t ruled out more such actions.

A US-led coalition is also carrying out strikes against IS in Iraq and Syria, where the jihadist group has declared a cross-border “caliphate” spanning territory it controls in the two countries. Russia, working with Iran and the Syrian regime, insists Assad will remain in power. “And it is not one that has allowed them to build a coalition on almost the scale of what the United States has built”.

Despite a common enemy in the Islamic State, the USA and Russian coalitions have waged separate campaigns save for coordination over airspace.

But the USA, Britain and Free Syrian Army representatives have said the majority of the bombing raids to date have targeted moderate anti-Assad rebel forces instead. It has also taken credit for bombing a Russian passenger jet and killing 224 people late last month. Terrorist group Daesh had, long before, as early as October 31, claimed responsibility for the crash. While in contrast to that, only a month of the Russian air operation forced many terrorists to retreat and flee Syria for Turkey, Europe, Yemen and elsewhere.

The president said he is confident that the US and its partners would ultimately destroy the Islamic State, which has shown an ability to strike targets far beyond its base in Syria and Iraq. They are cooperating with us.

The terrain-hugging Kalibr cruise missiles, which North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has codenamed Sizzler, fly at an altitude of 50 metres (164 feet) and are accurate to within three metres, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.
