Russian public opinion shifting in favour of Syria strikes
Four Russian cruise missiles fired at Syria from the Caspian Sea landed in Iran, unnamed USA officials have said.

It is not exactly clear if these crashes occurred during a new round of attacks today or if officials are referring to yesterday’s launch, although they say there may have been casualties associated with the wayward missiles.
Russian Federation has rejected U.S. claims that four of its missiles crashed into Iran rather than reaching intended targets in Syria.
The missiles were thought to be among a salvo fired on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) from Russian warships in the Caspian as part of a nine-day-old air war targeting foes of President Bashar al-Assad.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group, described the attack as Isil’s most significant for months.
Washington has ruled out military cooperation with Russian Federation in Syria, accusing Moscow of pursuing a “tragically flawed” strategy that would force it to limit military talks to basic pilot safety.
In its first comments on recent Russian airstrikes in Syria, the Cairo-based Arab League on Thursday declared that foreign intervention would not help resolve the ongoing conflict in the war-torn country.
Kamli said that the allegations were part of a USA propaganda campaign. “They started [the armed opposition] and taught Daesh and Nusra all these crimes committed against Syria now”.
“Greater than 90 percent of the strikes that we’ve seen them take to date have not been against…al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists”, US Department of State spokesman John Kirby said.
The Russian government said on Wednesday that it launched 26 cruise missiles, hitting targets in the Syrian provinces in the north and northwest.
Russian Federation said its warplanes flew 22 sorties and carried out 11 airstrikes on Islamic State training facilities in Hama and Raqqa provinces.
Sources in the region say Iran has sent hundreds of troops to back Syrian forces in a ground campaign coordinated with Russia’s air assault.

Likewise, the Iranian Defense Ministry has denied claims from anonymous Pentagon sources that the weapons failed over Iran chalking up the reports to western, “psychological warfare”. Asked how long the coalition would be in place and whether it would be maintained until the end of both the Assad regime and the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, the senator gave no timeline.
