Russian Su-24 Fencer Shot Down Over Syrian-Turkish Border
It’s complicated. To help you sort it all out, here’s a look at who’s supporting whom.

“A Russian Su-24 was downed by a Turkish F-16 fighter over the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic while returning to the Khmeimim airbase”.
Mr Obama added: “Russia could play a more constructive role if it shifts the focus of its strikes to defeating Isis”.
“Today’s loss is a stab in Russia’s back delivered by terrorist accomplices” that won’t be tolerated, Putin said.
Additionally, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation conducted “an extraordinary meeting” today on the downing of the Russian military airplane at Turkey’s request, Cook said.
The blue line is the Turkish border, and the red arrow is pointing to the spot at which the warplane reportedly entered Turkish airspace.
Russian military helicopters searched for the pilot and navigator near the crash site in the predominantly Turkmen Bayir Bucak area, Turkey’s Dogan news agency reported.
The track contradicts an earlier statement from the Russian Defence ministry, saying: “During all flight time, the plane was flying only within the borders of Syrian territory”.
Mr Davutoglu insisted his country has the right to take “all kinds of measures” against violations of its air space, and called on the worldwide community to work towards “extinguishing the fire that is burning in Syria”.
Reports said two pilots had ejected from the plane and Turkish television pictures showed two white parachutes descending to the ground.
Turnbull said there was a strong momentum to find a political resolution to the Syrian conflict, notwithstanding the shooting down of the Russian plane. The United States wants a political solution to the war in Syria that includes the departure of President Bashar Assad, while Russian Federation is supporting its long-time ally. Putin claims the plane crashed 2 1/2 miles inside Syria.

Meanwhile, Hollande said he plans to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin that France can work with Russia, if Moscow concentrates its military action in Syria on fighting the Islamic State group.
