Russian TV Leaks Secret Nuclear Torpedo Plans
According to the Russian leader, import substitution in the defense technology sector should positively influence on nondefense branches of industry. A few observers, however, saw it as a deliberate leak.

The drawings of the nuclear torpedo were mistakenly shown by Russian-controlled channels, the NTV and Channel One, NDTV reported.
A document describing the system was revealed in a November 10 Channel One news broadcast of President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with military chiefs in Sochi.
Scary, right? Well, a few people speculate the footage, which has since been deleted from the stations’ websites, was actually aired on goal with the intent to scare Western countries.
“Some secret information did indeed end up in front of the camera lenses, so it was later deleted”, Russian spokesman Dmitri Peskov was quoted by Interfax as saying.
“In the future, we will certainly take preventive measures not to let it happen again”, Peskov said.
Independent experts noted, however, that it would be hard to imagine cameramen of state TV stations closing up on any documents on the table during a Kremlin meeting on military issues. He said that over the past three years Russian arms makers already have built and tested prospective weapons systems, “which are capable of performing combat tasks in spite of the multi-echelon missile defense system”.
The U.S.is developing a missile-defense shield in Europe that government officials argue is directed toward Iran.
He vowed that Russian Federation would counter Nato’s US-led shield programme with new weapons “capable of penetrating any missile defences”.
Andrei Sakharov, the Soviet nuclear scientist who later became a dissident and peace activist, originally intended a long-range torpedo to be the delivery vehicle for the Tsar Bomb-the largest nuclear device ever detonated, with an explosive force of 50 megatons. The proposal was rejected, partly because naval technology of the era wouldnt allow a Soviet submarine to approach the USA shore undetected.
Therefore, the references to the Iranian and North Korean nuclear threats are only a cover for the United States true plans, the Russian president said.
If genuine, the torpedo style nuclear weapon would be virtually undetectable and would travel at high speeds in ocean depths far beyond any submarine capabilities. The said torpedo is being designed by Rubin, a Saint Petersburg-based construction company specializing in building nuclear submarine according to NDTV.

It details a nuclear submarine launched weapon that if primed with a nuclear warhead could cause wide spread destruction and radioactive contamination of key enemy coastal areas.
