The Islamic Republic is a stable and secure country through reliance on the know-how, experience and might of its military and security institutions and due to strong support of its people, Shamkhani said.

Warplanes took off from a base in Iran to target militants in Syria. Iran has provided ground forces that work with local allies while Russian Federation provides air power.

Russian media said the Tupolev-22M3 bombers, which had already conducted many strikes on fighters in Syria from southern Russia, were too large to be accommodated at Russia’s airbase inside Syria.

“The only action taking place is that Russian fighters are allowed to use this base to refuel”, said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

In a first, Iran has allowed Russian Federation to use one of its bases to stage and take off for attacks inside Syria – something unheard of in modern times in the Islamic Republic. Using Iran’s air base cuts that distance to less than 700 kilometers.

A nuclear deal was signed between Iran and six world powers, and there was no problem with the sale and the delivery of the missile system.

Syrian security forces evacuate medical staff after rockets reportedly fired by rebels hit Al-Dabbeet hospital in Aleppo.

He says one person was wounded as fierce bombardment on the village forced staff and patients to evacuate the facility before the strike.

“Iran is continuing to provide support for the Syrian regime and support efforts to contain opposition members in Aleppo”, according to a US intelligence official. The New York-based Human Right Watch accused Russian and Syrian forces of having used banned incendiary weapons in civilian areas.

On Monday, Sergei Shoigu, the Russian defense minister, said that Moscow and Washington were coming closer to an agreement on Syria that would let the two sides fight together.

“Iran has cooperation with Russian Federation, because of a terrorist crisis which has been created by the USA and some regional countries”.

The U.S. -led coalition fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria cleared the way for Russian bombers to pass through Iraq on their way to Syria via an airbase in Iran.

Iran’s Head of National Security Council has confirmed that the country has allowed Russian Federation to use the airbase since Moscow and Tehran cooperation in Syria is strategic. It says they destroyed two command posts and two training camps.

A Russian senator on Tuesday praised the “anti-terrorist coalition” of Russia, Syria, Iran, and Iraq, after Russian warplanes deployed from an airbase in Iran to bomb targets in Syria.

Separately, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 23 civilians were killed in Russian and Syrian strikes on rebel-held areas in Aleppo, Syria’s second city.

“The official line is that it provides Russia with a backup option and less anxiety about potential anti-air missiles in the hands of the Syrian rebels that can target Russian assets based inside Syria”.

But rights groups have criticized both Russian Federation and the Syrian regime for repeated strikes on civilian targets, including homes, schools and hospitals.

The speaker of Iran’s parliament Ali Larijani also stressed Wednesday that Iran has not given Russian Federation a permanent base in its territory.

The comments by Ali Larijani, reported on Wednesday by the state-run IRNA news agency, seem geared at easing domestic concerns over the strikes.
