Rutgers football to hire Chris Ash, a reported finalist for Syracuse head
Scarlet Nation has confirmed with multiple sources that Ash will be announced as RU’s new head coach on Monday.

Rutgers apparently has wasted no time in filling its head football coach vacancy.
Ash is in his second season with the Buckeyes after arriving in Columbus to lead a revamp of Ohio State’s defense after the 2013 season.
Ash emerged as the leading candidate from a pool that also included Al Golden, former Temple and Miami coach. “He got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Drake in 1997 and served as the Bulldogs” defensive coordinator for two seasons after that.
Ash will be taking over a 4-8 Rutgers squad that was shrouded by controversy throughout the season. He came to Ohio State in 2014 after he spent a year at Arkansas.
Ohio State has done a great job hiring assistant coaches over the last few seasons, and with the success that the program has had, that typically means they’ll need to hire some more.
But there’s no doubt that the division is loaded, with Meyer running the show at Ohio State, Mark Dantonio helming a college football power at Michigan State, Jim Harbaugh rapidly turning Michigan around and James Franklin in charge at Penn State.
Rutgers is coming off a awful season on and off the field.
