Rutgers star Leonte Carroo received good news in the courtroom Tuesday as a municipal judge dismissed a simple assault charge and removed a temporary restraining order against the All-Big Ten wide receiver.

“Flood reinstated Carroo after the student-athlete agreed to the conditions of his reinstatement and after he accepted the responsibility that comes with his return to the team”, Rutgers announced in a statement.

Carroo did not practice with the team this morning and afterwards assistant head coach Norries Wilson mentioned whether or not Carroo would be ready to play this Saturday night.

Despite the tumultuous past month for Carroo, Wilson is confident the senior wide receiver can still be effective in his role as captain. Carroo was accused of attacking a woman he used to date and slamming her onto concrete after a game last month.

A Piscataway municipal court judge dismissed the charges Tuesday night, after the woman said she didn’t want to testify. His status for the Scarlet Knights’ game against No. 4 Michigan State this Saturday remains unclear, with his lawyer expressing hope he would be reinstated but a Rutgers official telling nj.com earlier in the day no decision had yet been made.

“The type of character I have and me knowing this event and how unfortunate it was, I just knew I had to be patient and just wait”, Carroo said.

“This was a very serious matter”, Carroo said. “I’m going to use it as an opportunity to get better from them”.

Carroo declined to go into details about the incident. He caught 55 passes for 1,086 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and is a dynamic talent who will instantly upgrade the Rutgers offense upon his return to the starting lineup.
