Rutgers’s interim coach holds eccentric press conference
Flood will miss upcoming contests against Kansas – a Big 12 opponent that already lost to a Division I-AA opponent – next week and No. 2 Michigan State on October . 10.

Of course, Flood isn’t available to be interviewed by the media as he sits through his three-game suspension.
Rutgers interim head coach Norries Wilson held a odd press conference after the team’s 28-3 loss to Penn State.
Wilson, on the other hand, chose to take a different approach. When a reporter referred to the absent coach simply as “Flood”, Wilson interrupted.
“How do they do it here?” he asked after taking a seat in the media room.
“I inadvertently changed the protocol that usually happens at a postgame press conference”, Wilson said. Wilson answered, “I didn’t put Rettig in”.
“Coach (Flood) came in and talked about it and outlined what the situation was”.
“Do I pick a person, or do they just pull lottery tickets, or what do they got?”
Quarterback Chris Laviano played poorly again. No change was made on game night, but Wilson told reporters Sunday that the position would be evaluated.
There is an outspoken portion of the fan base calling for Hayden Rettig, who started the season-opener while Laviano was suspended for the first half of the game. Wilson acknowledged after the game that he spoke with Flood twice about the quarterback position in the days leading up to the Penn State matchup. “Chris is in his first year as a full-time starter and he did some things really well and there’s some things that (offensive coordinator) coach (Ben) McDaniels will correct him on so he can go on and keep improving as a player”. “We played a really good defense”. Could this be a message sent from Flood?
