Ryan: Clinton should apologize for saying jihadists want Trump win
During NBC’s Commander-in-Chief forum, Clinton looked as presidential as any man who has run.

In the U.S., Putin has an 8% approval rating.
On NBC Nightly News, reporter Andrea Mitchell was as giddy about the verbal attacks as a Clinton fangirl could be.
Trump, who has faced backlash from both parties in recent days for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin, was interviewed by Larry King, a veteran American journalist whose show airs Thursday evenings on RT America, the US partner of a network originally called Russia Today. You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables.
Still, the government’s most senior Republican stressed Thursday that he does not share Trump’s complimentary view of Putin.
HILLARY CLINTON: It’s a game to him. Everything is a game.
A day later, after blowback, Trump claimed he was just being “sarcastic”.
Rob Stutzman, a Sacramento-based GOP consultant, said Trump could have avoided giving his opponents an opening if he had been more careful with his language.
BARACK OBAMA: And every time he speaks, that opinion is confirmed.
Clinton’s comments were followed by a concert by Streisand, who performed a version of the Stephen Sondheim song “Send in the Clowns” that parodied the NY businessman.
Vice presidential nominee Indiana Gov. Mike Pence backed up those sentiments from his running mate, telling CNN that it was “inarguable” that Putin was a stronger leader than President Obama.
“I hear some people in political conversations today express admiration for Vladimir Putin”, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R., Ill.), who has frankly criticized Trump, said during remarks on the House floor Thursday about the civil war in Syria.
In his conversation with Mr King, the Republican nominee also cast doubt on speculation that the Kremlin has been trying to influence the United States election and was possibly behind a hack into the emails of the Democratic National Committee in July. “We don’t send our courageous men and women around the word to steal oil and that’s not even getting into the absurdity of what it would involve – massive infrastructure large numbers of troops, many years on the ground”.
In his speech earlier Wednesday, Trump proclaimed a goal of “Peace Through Strength”, and told an invited crowd at Philadelphia’s Union League club that he wants a foreign policy “focused on advancing America’s core national interests – so important – promoting regional stability and producing and easing the tensions within our very troubled world”.
MITCHELL: That had Paul Ryan firing away.
The morning after the two major party candidates participated in a “Commander-in-Chief” forum Wednesday night, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton came out swinging against rival Donald Trump, calling him a “gift for ISIS” and “temperamentally unfit and totally unqualified”. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton appeared separately last night at a forum aboard the U.S.S. Lauer’s performance has been universally panned for unfairness, sloppiness and sexism, according to The New York Times. Nancy Cordes begins our coverage.

CORDES: He called military leaders “embarrassing”, and claimed the US should have seized Iraq’s oil reserved when it had the chance.
