This is not the first time, though, that people have question what Bortles does when he drops back in the pocket. Such elasticity on defense and inability to grind out yardage on offense won’t win the Jets the AFC East, but beating imperfect teams in imperfect fashion just may be enough to get the Jets back into the playoffs as a wild card. But a holding call on right tackle Jeremy Parnell negated a six-yard scramble on first down by Bortles, who was strip sacked on the next play by linebacker Calvin Pace, who recovered the ball at the Jets’ 34-yard-line. But other elite runners, such as Dolphins running back Lamar Miller, have found no room at all, and the Patriots didn’t even try to establish a running game. “We went through everything and I was very pleased with our team’s effort overall”.
-With rookie Rashad Greene still another game away from returning from the short-term injured reserve list, the Jaguars have an unusual punt return strategy. That left the extra points to punter Ryan Quigley, who impressed by going 4 for 4 from the 33-yard distance, the first made extra points of his career. Wait, who? Quigley was pressed into duty as the Jets’ kicker when Nick Folk suffered a right quad injury during warmups.

Heading into the practice week, head coach Todd Bowles had to have a Plan B and C for his quarterback situation, as well as a Plan A, for that matter.
