Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signs with the New York Jets
Entering camp unsure of their quarterback’s future would not of been an ideal problem for the New York Jets, and fortunately it will not be.

Finally, the contract drama between the New York Jets and main quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is over as both sides agreed Wednesday to a one-year deal which is worth $12 million. Below you will find everything you need that recaps everything from the Fitzpatrick signing, up and through the first day of training camp. I had like six minutes to get in the building, I pulled up and the guys at the (security) gate kind of looked at me amusing but they waved me right through. I wasnt the first pick overall in the draft, said Fitzpatrick, a seventh-rounder by the Rams in 2005. Now, the Jets have familiar faces returning this season and could make a decent playoff run. “I didn’t want to miss any camp time. But you’ve just got to kind of play the cards that you’re dealt”. Fitzpatrick will be the starter against Cincinnati in Week 1 “unless something drastic happens”.
“Yeah, I was confident it would come”, Fitzpatrick said. Smith, meanwhile, was left as a spectator with an uncertain future. But one thing was clear: Discussing the quarterback’s monthslong contract stalemate with the Jets was off limits.
The other option for the team was Geno Smith who would have been the starter, but he did not have the backing of the front office or the team. He threw for at least 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns in each of those campaigns with the Bills, and showed he could be even better in his first year with NY.
“Jets brass consistently expressed a desire to keep Fitzpatrick rather than seriously pursue replacements like Brock Osweiler or Sam Bradford during free agency”. “The way that you handle all of this says something about yourself and your character. So, for me that’s the added pressure, just internally, in this building, that’s what it is as a starting quarterback anyway but that would be the main pressure I feel”.
He started as a rookie after Mark Sanchez was injured in the preseason and also held that role in 2014.
Long criticized as an inaccurate passer susceptible to the turnover, Fitzpatrick threw just 15 interceptions past year.
What we do know is the debate over should the Jets move on from Fitzpatrick can now be put to rest.
“I really don’t want to talk about how much better I am”, Smith said. “I’ve got to go out and perform for all of those guys in that locker room”.
“So I had to text Brandon and get his door code”, Fitzpatrick said. “We’ve got a plan.so we’ll get an equal look at all of them”.
Fitzpatrick’s splendid showing in the 2015 season guided the Jets to a winning record of 10-6.

“Geno’s done an fantastic job developing as a man off the field, a leader and a teammate”, Marshall said. I felt like I had to get back for those guys. “But I’m doing OK financially, so it was just a risk I was willing to take”. “Which I don’t know if he’s allowed to give it to me, but he did”.
