The day before the election, Ryan toured local businesses and never mentioned the race or the fact that he has a primary challenge. But people can’t vote in both parties’ primaries.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) – House Speaker Paul Ryan sought to avoid an August surprise in Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary, while a trio of Republicans waited to see who would emerge in a fight for an open congressional seat in the northeast. John Howe, radio talk show host Jason Lewis and local businesswoman Darlene Miller. Frank Lasee of De Pere, Forestville surveyor Terry McNulty and Mike Gallagher, who served as national security adviser for Gov. Scott Walker’s presidential campaign previous year, were in the Republican race. While Lasee was an initial favorite in the race, a media buying source told Morning Consult that may have changed.

Ryan will face Democrat Ryan Solen in November.

Magney said in the statement that the law was written long ago to prevent election bribery, which would involve showing one’s marked ballot to another person in order to get paid for voting a certain way.

And a look at Mr Nehlen’s policies explains why Mr Trump might have been impressed by the longshot outsider – and was not only motivated by his cool relationship with Mr Ryan. Days later, Trump, too, endorsed Ryan.

In a sign of the tension between the politicians, Trump told the newspaper he was “not quite there yet” – almost the same phrase Ryan had used about Trump. Ryan and Nehlen are vying for Wisconsin’s first Congressional district, which is in the state’s far southeastern corner and includes Racine and Kenosha.

Bob and Maureen Becker said they’re familiar with Ryan from the 40 years he’s spent in Janesville, and that he went to high school with their daughters. Ryan planned to speak after a victor is declared in his congressional race against longshot Republican challenger Paul Nehlen. Green Bay is ground zero for one of Tuesday’s more closely watched races.

Teske says the slow pace gives election officials a chance to make sure poll workers can master their duties with a bit less stress. “You can end the serfdom to special interests and become free, safe and secure”, Nehlen said in an online campaign video. Ron Johnson in a rematch of their 2010 Senate race, but on Tuesday he needs to get past Scott Harbach to nail down the Democratic nomination. Trump relented just three days later after coming under criticism from GOP leaders, but the burst of publicity was priceless for Nehlen.

The Associated Press called the race at around 8:30 p.m. – just half an hour after the polls closed.
