In a lackluster speech that almost put the Republican National Convention to sleep, Paul Ryan called for a return to failed GOP policies of the past – all while mentioning Donald Trump’s name just once throughout the 12-minute address. “We need to go back to our founding principles; take those principles and apply them to the problems of the day and find solutions”.

In laying out his “Better Way” policy agenda, Ryan’s statement of support for Trump was simple: the Manhattan billionaire will help pass the speaker’s proposed legislation, and presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will not.
“Guess what-Hillary Clinton doesn’t agree with any of this stuff”, Ryan said. Ryan, who is the chairman of the Republican National Convention being held this week, has been a vocal critic of some of Trump’s controversial remarks and positions on issues ranging from immigration to alleged racism. “If Mitt Romney were standing here today, he would say I wish we did it more in 2012”, Mr. Ryan said.
Ryan planned to speak Wednesday to Republicans from OH, a must-win swing state for presidential candidates in recent decades. Ryan himself waited a month after Trump clinched the GOP nomination before endorsing him last month.
The daily morning breakfast speech attracted a standing-room only crowd of OH delegates, family, and friends inside the downtown Cleveland DoubleTree hotel.
Hours before intense debate broke out between anti-Trump forces and pro-Trump delegates on the floor of the convention, Ryan called for unity among the Republican delegation this week in the Quicken Loans Arena.
“The next time that there’s a State of the Union address, I don’t know where Joe Biden or Barack Obama are going to be”.
“This is the core of the country”, Ryan said. “We offer a better way for America, with reforms that actually work”, he said, before listing off the same conservative pablum of less regulation and lower taxes.
“Speaker Ryan said Gov. Pence is a good leader and a great fit for the GOP team”, Morelli said.

The Wisconsin Republican said Pennsylvania could swing the outcome of the entire election.
