Could this be a billion-million mix-up?

[Washington Post, h/t Yahoo Sports]. But the Redskins’ defense did little otherwise to rattle opposing quarterbacks en route to a 4-12 finish, worst in the NFC East.

“Nothing would have changed had I not gotten it done and nothing’s going to change now that I do have it done” Kerrigan said. For that to happen, the coach conceded, the Redskins must perform better on both sides of the ball.

Ryan Kerrigan signed a deal to become the NFL’s third highest-paid linebacker.

Gruden said he wants to hear the Redskins fans even louder this year at training camp.

Last season, Griffin III and Gruden had completed an entire training camp, preseason and first week of the regular season together before the Baylor product suffered a dislocated ankle Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, keeping him on the sideline for seven weeks. Orakpo signed with the Tennessee Titans. And McCloughan retooled the defensive line, adding veteran free agents with girth and power.

“I think more than anything it’s awesome, the vote of confidence that the Redskins have put in me”, Kerrigan said of his contract extension.

Kerrigan is scheduled to earn just more than $7 million this season, per his fifth-year option.

If this is a make-or-break year for the fourth-year passer, Griffin III will be given absolutely every opportunity to succeed, and that starts with the his characterization in the media.

Gruden noted that tackle Trent Williams (ankle), outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (knee), tight end Jordan Reed (knee), tackle Morgan Moses (foot) and defensive back DeAngelo Hall (Achilles) are all expected to go practice tomorrow.

“We’ll monitor them as we go but we expect good things from all 5 of those guys” Gruden said. “We just have to continue to coach them, and make sure we demand a lot out of them”.
