Was there ever really any doubt?

The men’s 200-meter individual medley is set to air at 10:01 p.m. on NBC.
Congratulations as always to Phelps, and Locthe, congratulations on being the Ryan Lochte of self-knowledge, honesty, and telling faces. Remember, both Phelps and Lochte swam late Tuesday night in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay – they of course won gold in that event. They were friends. And rivals. “And I think there’s a mutual respect, but also they’re very competitive and neither one wants to give in or go home”.
Lochte finished half a second behind him with Brazil’s Thiago Perreira third in 1:57.11.
Phelps has won four gold medals in Rio after coming out of retirement for one last crack at the Olympics and he has won the 200 metre individual medley four times.
It’s official: Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympic athlete of ALL TIME! Phelps’ 15 tops Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina. Whose record did he break?
In 2000, in the Sydney Games, Phelps at 15 was the youngest male Olympian the United States had presented in almost 70 years.
“It’s been a hell of a career”, Phelps told reporters, while acknowledging the strain on his 31-year-old body.
Wag that finger, Phelps, and may your prideful glory-hogging ways be passed down to many generations of Olympians to come.
Let’s not forget Lochte in this, considering it was the final race of an outstanding Olympic run. “It’s been a hell of a career”, Phelps was quoted as saying. She advances in second place overall, after Australian Cate Campbell clocked an Olympic record 52.78.
Ryan Lochte said on TODAY that he will “guarantee” Michael Phelps will return for the 2020 Olympics: “Michael, I’ll see you in Tokyo”.

Phelps already avenged his loss in the 200 m butterfly, but if he can win tonight, he’ll have officially settled the score between the two, while picking up gold medal No. 23 in the process. Watch it, and cherish it.
